AOD and WonderCon

So I've been a little behind as far as blog posting, probably due to my recent addiction to vloging instead. However, I thought I would post a synopsis/con review of the last two cons I've been to: AOD and Wonder Con.
AOD was pretty fun. I went with a group of friends from school and we all roode the bus together (in cosplay!) to the event. It wasn't far but the novalty of riding on a bus in cosplay was amazing. The con itself was pretty small but that doesn't mean it was bad. In fact, because it was so small I ran into a lot of people I knew and got to hang out with them for awhile. It's always great to catch up with cosplay friends because I feel like many them, I only see at cons every few month or so. I really should try to meet up with some in the city because I just recently found a few people in San Fran. :D
Anywho, it was great seeing friends again and catching up; however, I was super nervous throughout the day because me and my best friend Bishop were going to be in the masquerade! Now a lot of people wouldn't think that to be too nerve wrecking but I hate being in front of a large group of people, especially performing because I always forget what I'm supposed to do. Fail, I know. So getting up on stage and doing a skit was pretty scarey for me. While we were waiting for our turn my palms were seriously sweaty and gross and I was thankful that I put on a lot of deodarent before leaving. But we got on stage and did our thing, people laughed (which was reassuring) and we won Runner-Up Best Performance! We actually won something! I think both of us were a little surprised because it took us a few seconds to actually get up to receive the award. I think winning the award and participating ing the masquerade really helped me overcome some fears even though I'm still super nervous about that kind of stuff.

As for Wonder Con, that was also really fun but for a completely different purpose. I didn't see a lot of people I knew there (shout outs to those I did though!) but mine and Bishop's costumes were very well recieved and we were kind of mobbed my people. XD I was Silk Spectre II movie version while Bishop was Rorschach, both from Watchmen. We went for the Watchmen panal mainly and we had these wonderful seats towards the front which made photographers very happy since we barely were able to sit down. The panel started at 11:30 but they let people in at about 10 because the line was so long. So for nearly an hour and a half we were posing for pictures. It was awesome because there were a few really good photographers and people who filmed us from the con and other medias. One lady wanted Bishop to hold her baby and take a picture, which is pretty hillarious considering it's Rorschach...holding a baby. lol And then the baby started crying! I was laughing so hard at that.
Speaking of Rorschachs! I met Jackie's (the guy who plays Rorschach in the movie) wife! No joke! So Bishop and I were resting on the stairs because he wanted to change out of his costume since he couldn't breath or see properly and I needed to take off thoe horrible 4" heels I was in. So we were sitting and the woman comes up to me and asks to take my picture. I told her it was fine as long as she didn't mind me not having shoes on. She didn't and laughed at it and told me that she loved my costume. She went on to say that she was trying to find Watchmen cosplayers to show her husband because he's a big fan and was in the movie! I thought that was awesome so I asked who he was and she said his name is Jackie and he played Rorschach. I seriously just stood there staring awkwardly because I wasn't expecting her to say main character, especially Rorschach! She said she was going to show the rest of the cast because she really liked my outfit and I was seriously speachless. XD I look back thinking how dumb I must have looked. She started walking away and I yelled back "Thank you! You've made my day!" Lame, I know! But I couldn't think of what else to do when someone says they're going to show your picture to the cast of the movie you're cosplaying from. Seriously, that's a highlight for my year right now.
Anwho, Bishop and I travled around some more taking pictures and looking at stuff and then I ran into a couple (I think they were a couple...) who were cosplaying the Comedian and Silk Spectre I! I was like OMG! Family picture! So we took a few pictures togather and they were super nice and they looked awesome too! It was pretty much one good thing after another at this con, with the exception of my feet killing me. D: Thus why we left a little early because I was have trouble even standing afer 8 hours in those shoe. However, it was totally worth it and I loved every second of this con. I'm definately going next year and hopefully it will live up to this one.
I should have some Silk Spectre II pictures coming soon, but in the mean time, feel free to check out my vlogs even though they say the exact same thing as I wrote in here. lol But think of it this way, now you can see my awesome facial expressions while I'm talking about this. :D So I hope all is good for everyone else and I'll be sure to write some more posts and upload pictures soon!
